NEW DELHI: BSF Neutralises Intruder at Pathankot Border, Heightened Security Along IB

BSF Troops Thwart Infiltration Attempt at International Border

The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully neutralized an intruder attempting to cross the International Border (IB) in the Pathankot sector during pre-dawn hours on Wednesday. The incident took place at Border Outpost (BOP) Tashpatan, where BSF personnel observed suspicious movement across the border.

According to an official statement by the BSF, the intruder ignored repeated warnings and continued advancing despite being challenged by the alert troops. Sensing a potential security threat, BSF personnel took decisive action, neutralizing the individual.

“The identity and motive of the intruder are being ascertained,” BSF authorities stated, adding that a strong protest will be lodged with the Pakistan Rangers regarding the incident.

Heightened Security and Retaliatory Measures

This infiltration attempt comes a day after the Indian Army engaged in retaliatory firing against Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector. Reports suggest that the firing exchange occurred at approximately 11 AM on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, on February 8, terrorists fired at an Indian Army patrol in the Keri sector of Rajouri from across the LoC, prompting an immediate response from Indian soldiers. Additionally, in the intervening night of February 4 and 5, a landmine explosion in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch resulted in casualties among infiltrators attempting to breach the border.

Increased Terror Activity and Counter-Offensives

Between May and December last year, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a surge in terrorist activities, leading to intensified counter-offensive operations by security forces. Over 30 terrorists were neutralized before the onset of winter, while security forces recorded 25 casualties—19 in Jammu and six in Kashmir—during the same period.

The BSF and the Indian Army remain vigilant against cross-border infiltration attempts and terror threats, ensuring the safety and security of India’s borders. With heightened surveillance and swift action, security forces continue to thwart infiltration bids and neutralize potential threats effectively.

Shashi Tharoor Admits Misjudgment on India’s Neutral Stance in Russia-Ukraine War

Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor has publicly acknowledged that he was mistaken in opposing India’s neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine war when it first erupted in 2022. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday during a session titled ‘Waging Peace: Looking Back to Look Ahead’ , Tharoor candidly admitted that India’s diplomatic approach has, in hindsight, positioned the country as a potential peacemaker on the global stage. "An Egg on My Face" – Tharoor’s Honest Reflection "I am still wiping the egg off my face because I am one person in the parliamentary debate who actually criticized the Indian position at the time back in February 2022," Tharoor confessed. At the time, he had strongly condemned Russia’s military actions, advocating that India should denounce the aggression based on principles of the UN Charter, the sovereignty of Ukraine, and the inviolability of international borders . However, with three years of g...

Foreign Minister David Lammy expressed his distress over the matter, emphasizing that the British government would seek answers from both Hong Kong and Chinese authorities. Delhi High Court Denies Maintenance to Educated Wife: A Landmark Ruling

In a recent judgment, the Delhi High Court held that a well-educated woman, capable of earning a living, should not remain unemployed just to claim maintenance from her husband. The ruling came in response to a revision petition filed by a woman challenging a family court’s 2022 decision that denied her interim maintenance. The Court’s Stand on Maintenance Justice Chandra Dhari Singh stated that Section 125 of the CrPC aims to protect dependent spouses, children, and parents but does not encourage idleness. He asserted that women with professional qualifications and work experience should make efforts to become financially independent rather than relying on alimony. The court upheld the family court’s decision, noting that the petitioner had a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Wollongong, Australia , which demonstrated her capability to earn. Furthermore, she had previously worked in Dubai as an Audit Associate at KPMG and later as an HR Manage...
