Kolkata 'Suicide' Mystery Deepens: Shocking Autopsy Revelations in Tragic Family Deaths

The tragic deaths of three family members in Kolkata’s Tangra area have taken a shocking turn as the autopsy report revealed chilling details that deepen the mystery. The bodies of Romi Dey (44), Sudeshna Dey (39), and Priyamvada (minor) were discovered under suspicious circumstances, leading police to investigate whether this was a case of suicide or something more sinister.

The Discovery of the Tragedy

The police learned about the deaths in an unexpected manner. On Wednesday afternoon, a high-speed car crash near the Avishikta crossing involving Prasun Dey, Pranay Dey, and a minor boy, Pratip led to their hospitalization. The car was reportedly traveling at 100 km/h before the accident. When the police arrived to take statements, Pranay Dey made a shocking confession—three family members had been found dead at their home.

Gruesome Scene at the Dey Residence

When the police arrived at the house in the Tangra PS area, they were met with a horrific sight. The bodies of Romi, Sudeshna, and Priyamvada were found in separate rooms, with bloodstains throughout the house. The autopsy revealed that Romi and Sudeshna had their throats slit and wrists slashed, while Priyamvada had bruises on her lips and nose, with froth coming from her mouth, suggesting possible poisoning.

Investigators confirmed that no poison was found in Romi and Sudeshna's bodies, raising questions about whether the deaths were staged to look like a suicide.

Possible Motive: Financial Troubles and Business Losses

Authorities are exploring the possibility that financial distress may have driven the family to take such extreme measures. Reports suggest that the Dey brothers had suffered significant business losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to mounting debt and financial instability. Just a day before the incident, “well-built men” were seen at their factory, possibly indicating pressure from debt collectors or business disputes.

Additionally, business associate Manoj Gupta visited their home but received no response from the family. Surveillance footage from around 12:54 am on Wednesday captured the two brothers and Pratip leaving the house, fueling speculation about what transpired that night.

Murder or Suicide? Unanswered Questions Remain

While initial reports suggested suicide, the autopsy report and crime scene details paint a more complex picture. Why were only the women and the minor girl targeted? If it was a financially driven family suicide pact, why did the men survive the car crash? Was the accident an attempt to end their lives, or was it an escape plan gone wrong?

Authorities are investigating all possible angles, including financial disputes, external threats, and foul play. The police are also questioning business associates, family members, and neighbors to piece together the events leading to this horrific tragedy.

As the case unfolds, the Kolkata crime branch is working to unravel the secrets hidden within the Dey household—a story of financial turmoil, mystery, and an unsettling chain of events that has left an entire city searching for answers.

Shashi Tharoor Admits Misjudgment on India’s Neutral Stance in Russia-Ukraine War

Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor has publicly acknowledged that he was mistaken in opposing India’s neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine war when it first erupted in 2022. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday during a session titled ‘Waging Peace: Looking Back to Look Ahead’ , Tharoor candidly admitted that India’s diplomatic approach has, in hindsight, positioned the country as a potential peacemaker on the global stage. "An Egg on My Face" – Tharoor’s Honest Reflection "I am still wiping the egg off my face because I am one person in the parliamentary debate who actually criticized the Indian position at the time back in February 2022," Tharoor confessed. At the time, he had strongly condemned Russia’s military actions, advocating that India should denounce the aggression based on principles of the UN Charter, the sovereignty of Ukraine, and the inviolability of international borders . However, with three years of g...

Delhi High Court Denies Maintenance to Educated Wife: A Landmark Ruling

In a recent judgment, the Delhi High Court held that a well-educated woman, capable of earning a living, should not remain unemployed just to claim maintenance from her husband. The ruling came in response to a revision petition filed by a woman challenging a family court’s 2022 decision that denied her interim maintenance. The Court’s Stand on Maintenance Justice Chandra Dhari Singh stated that Section 125 of the CrPC aims to protect dependent spouses, children, and parents but does not encourage idleness. He asserted that women with professional qualifications and work experience should make efforts to become financially independent rather than relying on alimony. The court upheld the family court’s decision, noting that the petitioner had a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Wollongong, Australia , which demonstrated her capability to earn. Furthermore, she had previously worked in Dubai as an Audit Associate at KPMG and later as an HR Manage...
