Grisly Murder Uncovered After Burnt Body Found in Suitcase in Ghazipur, Delhi

In a chilling turn of events, a burnt body discovered in a suitcase in a deserted area of Ghazipur, East Delhi, has led the police to uncover a disturbing tale of betrayal, violence, and murder. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Shilpa Pandey.

Discovery of the Body

Early on January 27, 2025, police were alerted to a suitcase discarded in a desolate area. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a completely charred body inside. The situation was initially baffling, as there were no immediate clues to identify the victim or the culprit. A murder case and charges of evidence destruction were registered, prompting investigators to dive deep into the case.

Investigative Breakthrough

Deputy Commissioner of Police for East Delhi, Abhishek Dhania, mentioned that their investigation began with scanning CCTV footage from the area. A suspicious vehicle, a Hyundai Verna, was captured on camera crossing the site hours before the body was found. Tracing the car's registration led them to a resident of Loni, who claimed he had sold the vehicle to a man named Amit Tiwari.

The Gruesome Confession

Following this lead, the police tracked down Amit Tiwari, a 22-year-old cab driver from Ghaziabad. They also detained his friend, Anuj Kumar, a welding mechanic. During questioning, Amit identified the body as his cousin, Shilpa Pandey. The two had been in a live-in relationship for over a year, but things had turned sour.

Shilpa had been pressuring Amit to marry her, and he had been trying to distance himself. On the night of January 26, after an argument, Amit, intoxicated and enraged, choked Shilpa to death. In a desperate attempt to cover up his crime, he enlisted Anuj's help to dispose of the body.

The Murder Plot

According to the police, Amit initially planned to dump Shilpa's body in western Uttar Pradesh. However, after passing through several checkpoints, he opted for a location closer to Delhi. They bought diesel from a nearby petrol pump, transported the suitcase to a deserted area, and set the body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The Arrest

Amit was arrested in Greater Noida after the police pieced together the details of the murder. Investigators also learned that Shilpa's parents, who reside in Surat, Gujarat, were unaware of the tragic events that led to their daughter's death.

This grisly crime sheds light on the dark side of relationships, where pressure, jealousy, and frustration can escalate into irreversible violence. The case is ongoing, and both Amit and Anuj face serious charges in connection with the murder and destruction of evidence.

Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor has publicly acknowledged that he was mistaken in opposing India’s neutral stance on the Russia-Ukraine war when it first erupted in 2022. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi on Tuesday during a session titled ‘Waging Peace: Looking Back to Look Ahead’ , Tharoor candidly admitted that India’s diplomatic approach has, in hindsight, positioned the country as a potential peacemaker on the global stage. "An Egg on My Face" – Tharoor’s Honest Reflection "I am still wiping the egg off my face because I am one person in the parliamentary debate who actually criticized the Indian position at the time back in February 2022," Tharoor confessed. At the time, he had strongly condemned Russia’s military actions, advocating that India should denounce the aggression based on principles of the UN Charter, the sovereignty of Ukraine, and the inviolability of international borders . However, with three years of g...

Delhi High Court Denies Maintenance to Educated Wife: A Landmark Ruling

In a recent judgment, the Delhi High Court held that a well-educated woman, capable of earning a living, should not remain unemployed just to claim maintenance from her husband. The ruling came in response to a revision petition filed by a woman challenging a family court’s 2022 decision that denied her interim maintenance. The Court’s Stand on Maintenance Justice Chandra Dhari Singh stated that Section 125 of the CrPC aims to protect dependent spouses, children, and parents but does not encourage idleness. He asserted that women with professional qualifications and work experience should make efforts to become financially independent rather than relying on alimony. The court upheld the family court’s decision, noting that the petitioner had a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Wollongong, Australia , which demonstrated her capability to earn. Furthermore, she had previously worked in Dubai as an Audit Associate at KPMG and later as an HR Manage...
